A Dedicated Follower Of Fashion - ISSUE 64
A look inside the work I have been doing this year for two colourful Australian brands!
Housekeeping
How are you all this week?! There are always new people signing up to this newsletter and I greatly appreciate it. Over 2 thousand of you now so this is a growing community and I love to write to you all each week.
This year has been so full of challenges and changes. I’m really excited to celebrate 2023 on new years eve and take on 2024 with a positive outlook and abundant mindset.
Speaking of 2024 I am enrolled for the birth my business course by Sunmother Studios and I am so excited to get some guidance myself on how to grow and run my content creation business and also get some tips on website, marketing and… even though I do feel it’s my strong point, social media too. It’s such a changing and fast moving landscape and without strategy it can be like throwing spaghetti at the wall. Connect with Amy over on socials for oodles of free advice and content around anything to do with having an online presence.
I also wanna give a shout out to We Sell Prints a local print house who are taking care of all my printing needs for an upcoming group exhibition. Printing is scary but I recently had some work done with them and it’s taken a lot of the fear around types of paper, border no border, pricing, prepping files etc. out of the equation now and I love that they held my hand and helped me get the best out of my work. Highly recommend!
The team have kindly given me a 10% OFF code for anyone looking to get some printing done! Use code LUCY10 on their website to redeem this special offer and see your work off a screen and in yours or someone else’s hands!
Now let’s have a look at two slow fashion brands I was lucky enough to work with in 2023!
Creativity & Movement
Footwear is pretty important…but you know what else is important? Looking good, but do you know what’s even better than just looking good…feeling and looking good at the same time! Basically, this is what Radical Yes are all about. Flat shoe liberation for creative women on the move.
I love everything they do and after working with the brand consistently throughout the year I had the pleasure of showcasing their new summer sandal collection and other fun things like making a what’s in my bag video with one of their totes!
For me this is a dream come true as shoes have long been an obsession of mine and combining my love for fashion and photography is just a life I never thought I would be living.
I love this brand because they design with a specific woman in mind and that speaks to me. Whether I’m running around filming for YouTube, on a shoot, hanging out with my little guy in the park, seeing a band or wandering a gallery, I feel like Radical Yes fits my vibe and how I want to live my life.
So if you too, are a shoe lover or you have a shoe lover in your life you may enjoy perusing their IG page to see what colourful combos they come up with next. If you are here mainly for the photography element, which I know a lot of you are, you may still want to follow them to see how I capture fancy footwear on film.
Radical Yes also have a YouTube channel and you might even see a snippet of yours truly on that platform as well. Stay Radical :)
Little Tienda - Better Not Bigger
More comfort and more colour coming your way via Gold Coast based label “Little Tienda” who I have recently had the pleasure of working with in a few different ways.
Collabing on some video work, some film photos and also my fav, modelling/musing for the new summer collection “No Vacancy” which you can peek at here.
My brilliant friend Sabine Bannard shot this new collection and along with Little T owner, Em, it was such a fab morning filled with beachy vibes, yummy pastries and flowing summer pieces that invite movement and scream summer. Most of this set was shot on 35mm film with a few Leica M9 shots thrown in too. Sabine is a film lover but she also shoots digi and is always chasing that warm film vibe, so she is naturally a big One Month Two Cameras YT channel fan, but I mean come on, who isn’t right?
Let’s have a look at my fun shots exploring a local Asian grocer that Little Tienda designer, Em is a huge fan of. I have always wanted to shoot in here so it was a great excuse to camera up with Lux in tow and browse the aisles in my Stevie dress and AMAZING tango crochet tote bag.
I love brands that make creativity a priority and think outside the box in terms of not only design, but also the way they imagery can look and feel. Exchanging ideas with both of these brands is an enriching experience and I feel so lucky to be involved in the process of bringing their vision and pieces to life.
So that’s it guys…something slightly different this week but something you might be seeing more of in future newsletters as I step more into the fashion world. Can’t wait for my next R. Yes & Little Tienda adventure.
Love Lucy xx
Thanks David! The first floor were taken on portra 160 and the little tienda ones were taken on ultramax! I love using flash on point and shoots or on my Rebel g but I do also use off camera flash as well.
Hi Lucy.
These are great-looking snaps! Flash appears to be used in most if not all of them. May I ask what film stock was used?
Thanks.
Dave
