Relics Photo Exhibition
I love Australia and I feel so lucky to be in a sunny and safe corner of the world but I do sometimes feel really isolated from everything else that is going on around the globe.
Especially lately with all the fun things happening! I was recently a part of The Unstable Lights exhibition in Germany which has now wrapped up but an online shop is now live and this gives you the opportunity to purchase works from all the artists that were shown.
So sadly I couldn’t make it to Hamburg, Germany and I also won’t be able to make it to the Relics photo exhibition in Long Beach CA either!!! My FOMO is crazy the last few weeks so if you can - please attend for me!!???
Send me a pic of my photo on the wall and tell me how much fun your having chatting with all the awesome people who are there appreciating the diverse range of work on show.
I am proud to be a part of this exhibition and admire Drake (owner of Relics) for bringing together work from all over the world to celebrate possibly the best theme there is when it comes to showcasing film photography, nostalgia!
Unstable Lights has really built up the confidence in me to keep putting my work out there and submit as much as I can when there is an open call. I encourage you to do the same.
As we speak I am getting my submission for the Safelight Paper open call together and hoping to hear back from Head On Festival in Sydney. I submitted to the NPPP this year along with Lux and we both did not make the cut and that is okay!
I just wanted to share the rejections as well as the wins with you guys because if we only share the good stuff it creates a false reading on what is actually going on in an artists journey.
I reach out to so many people whether it be an open call, an interview request or to offer photography services and I often don’t hear back at all, get turned down or follow up again and end up with a yes! I think the key is to just keep chipping away with the end goal in mind and take the looses as a way to build your resilience and learn - both very valuable things that are key to sustainable success as an artist.
Relics Photo Exhibition is happening March 24th 6pm - 9pm at their flagship store in Long Beach California. Don’t miss this one guys and be sure to tag me on IG if you attend!
What Makes a Great Photograph?
If you guys missed this one I would so appreciate you watching as Lux and I really put many hours into planning, scripting, filming and editing this one. It feels like our most polished video yet! Thank you to everyone who has been commenting and DMing me with feedback I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy it guys.
1:1 Session Enquires
Last week I had a 60 minute session with a NYC based photographer and performing artist who wanted to workshop some ideas for building a community, starting Patreon and generally getting clear on the next steps to take in that direction.
I have another session coming up with a film photographer this week and I am so excited to offer my support where I can. I am by no means the technical go to, but I do feel I am damn good at organizing, planning and getting you motivated and ready to map out the next steps you are gonna take in achieving your goals.
If you need some help in these areas or you have ideas around a project, side hustle, content creation or anything in that realm that you feel needs some talking through then email me and we can set up a 60 minute 1:1 session. lucylumenanalog@gmail.com
This is a new thing I am offering this year as I have been receiving a lot of DM’s from people asking for advice or how to get more eyes on their work and whilst I am always happy to reply and help I wanted to offer an option for people to get more specific advice if they choose to!
Either way, my virtual door is always open and feel free to ask questions about these sessions if you have any!
See you on Friday for the usual email and if you are new here be sure to subscribe and flip through the back issues full with tips, interviews and plenty of photos!
Thank you for reading!
Love Lucy xx
