Housekeeping
This week will be a very short newsletter as I have had a jampacked week and I just broke a nail, need to wash my hair and have more editing than you can shake a stick at! Lucky I have my wonderful husband (who isn’t actually my husband but sometimes I call him that because he feels like my husband and what’s the difference really?) to work with me on our various projects from the week that was.
Let’s get straight to it shall we!
Are you seeing a theme here?
If you have followed me for a while or even just a minute really you will know that I love red and it’s the focal point of a lot of my photography. Further more I also have a fondness for chairs and I seem to find lots of red ones on my travels so naturally I photograph them with joy and film, of course.
This is an ongoing project that has yet to come together in a formal sense but has been one that I have sold a few prints of over the last few years and even exhibited as well.
This brings me to my next point/crux of this weeks newsletter and that is you, yes you, lovely loyal reader, and your current project… or maybe lack there of? Or, simply just your photographic work in general and how you really feel about?
Maybe you shy away from really thinking about how it all looks together or what you want to do with it long term?
Maybe you grimace at the thought of any kind of feedback but secretly you kind of want some cause you know maybe it would help you improve, move forward or even uncover a blind spot and inspire you to move in a certain direction.
Or, maybe like me, you seek out constant feedback only to use that as fuel to prove that you don’t need to change by militantly doubling down on what you were already doing and through being so god damn determined you actually prove the advice giver wrong and revel in your rightness. Despite the advice you were given not even being bad at all and coming to the realization that you cannot be told anything and are extremely stubborn.
Or maybe you are a totally mentally stable artist who would just love a fellow photog to review their work in detail and provide a written review highlighting their favs, areas of possible improvement or focus, identification of themes, patterns, and other angles to explore, possible references and experiments or challenges to try and general feedback on how the work feels as a whole or overall?
If any of these sound like you then you should book in for a portfolio/project review with me this month! I’m offering all newsletter subscribers a discounted price for this service which you can access via this link here or by clicking the button below.
Are these reviews just for personal work?
Great question! As you might have gleaned from my socials lately, I have been flat out with photography work lately so perhaps you are wanting some feedback in that area more so than in your personal work?
I am so here to help and would LOVE to look through your recent portfolio or the one you are building up and provide some feedback, guidance and advice on what I have seen work, and not work, for me over the last year or so being a paid photographer and content creator.
You guys can click this same link to snag your review at the discounted rate and just be sure to include any work related things in the form or via email after purchase so I can have a look see!
This service is discounted for the month of February only so book your spot before the month is up and make 2024 the year you get comfy with sharing your work and get that boost to finish the project, make the zine, pitch to that client or just feel seen and nurtured from one artist to another.
I am so excited to see all your beautiful work. I recently did a review for a lovely guy in NYC and it was such a joy to see the city through his eyes and experience the coming together of a photo project before it hits the world.
Oh I forgot to mention too anyone who books in for a review will also get a copy of my 101 Creative Strategies Guide - the perfect thing to get you out of a creative slump and my warm film LR preset to have some fun with!
