Melbourne Exhibition + Portfolio Review Service Update
Exciting things are happening in March!!!
Housekeeping
Hello, I feel like I’ve been skipping school cause I’ve missed a few Substack posts recently but I’m here to explain and also let the paid subscribers know that I have paused the billing for the moment as I figure out what my Substack presence looks like this year. I’m thinking this may become a fortnightly or monthly thing but I’m still figuring it out so I’ll get back to you.
We are currently packing for a trip to Melbourne (our last one got cancelled so here we go again hoping it all goes to plan this time) figuring out what cameras and video gear is of course the first task…followed closely by the lingering question “What will I wear?”
If you are interested at all in what I wear and how I piece together an outfit you can check out my latest YouTube video below for some Annie Hall, preppy, vintage, slightly masculine vibe looks.
Portfolio Reviews
I am offering a limited number of portfolio reviews this month, 3 to be specific.
Last month you guys snapped up the spots and it was so awesome to review your work both personal projects and also professional portfolios too. I put my heart and soul into these reviews and they do take time as I go through all the work you send and provide as much feedback as I can and also pick out specific images to chat with you about.
I get immense satisfaction from helping people in the community and whilst my DM’s are always open it’s harder and harder to give everyone ample time and attention when it comes to their work and that is why I offer this service.
Some recent reviews from last months photographers…
I start of the reviews with a first impression overview of your work. This provides you with a raw and no too thought out look at how I perceive your overall style and output.
Then I delve into my favorite images and give you lots of insight into why these images speak to me and how they stand out from the rest. I will also point out here the areas I think you can focus more and less on based on what work really has legs in my eyes.
I’ll go onto addressing any other themes/patterns/underlying threads that I can see happening and ones you might want to meld together, explore further or even move away from in favor of something more interesting.
I always like to let you know who your work is reminiscent of and the vibe and feeling I’m getting along with any references or resources I think you might find helpful or inspiring.
All portfolio review clients receive my strategies guide and my warm film preset as a thank you for booking in as well!
Follow up questions and clarification is also included if you feel you need it.
If you would like to arrange an in person review via zoom etc. please get in touch. These reviews are being held via email for now which allows me to fit them in amongst my schedule.
If you have any questions give me a shout. It is a true honor to sit with and look at a fellow artists work and provide some direction, so thank you to those who have trusted in me.
Melancholy Group Show
This week I am travelling to Melbourne as I was lucky enough to be selected to show in this group exhibition put on by the Our Stories On Film crew. Details are on the flyer below so if you are in Melbourne drop by and say hi!
Hope to see you there if you can make it and thanks for being here.
See you in the next one
Love Lucy xx
