Sandwiches, Sneakers and Some Sick New Merch
Housekeeping
We are powering through the year here and before we know it we will be talking about what's on our Xmas wish list (cameras and film obvs) and reflecting on the year that has been!
We aren’t quite there yet though so while we wait I want to share this awesome new shoot with you guys. Keep scrolling down to read and see more.
If you ever wondered what it was like to be a commercial photographer working on a high stakes, high paid shoot with many people involved then you should listen to my latest interview with the legend at Tin House Studios. This was honestly the most insightful and interesting conversation about the world of professional photography I have ever had and it’s actually opened my eyes to what I might like to pursue next in my career. Don’t miss this one!
This week I have been busy filming video content for a few brands and also putting finishing touches on my new squarespace website that will hopefully launch very soon!
If you aren’t subscribed to this newsletter but you want to stay up to date with all my content as well as a bts look into what I’m working on then hit the button below.
Joe’s Deli Official Merch Shoot!
It’s not often you can get really super creative on a paid job and have someone trust you enough to let you run with ideas and work with exactly who you want to. If you are on the Joe’s Deli team, you can!
I started shooting for the first store earlier in the year after snapping some film shots, on black and white of all stocks, and got chatting to the owner about how insanely good his sandwiches are but also how on point and amazingly cool the shop’s branding and vibe is too!
He suggested I come in and do a test shoot as he was siked on film photography being on the feed and from there I have done all the shoots for that store and more recently the new Brisbane store.
To celebrate the opening of the new location, plus new menu items, there was also a banging line of fresh merch that needed shooting too!
The owner is a 90’s hip hop lover and supplied a crazy god selection of records, food of course and we even had a stylist source some vintage denim and a few pairs of sneakers to really bring it all together.
If you want the full, and I mean full, breakdown of the shoot and how I prepared for it, how I shoot it, what I used and also some tips for how to plan, prep and execute your next shoot then watch the video below.
I worked with a local model Charlotte Rose Beers on this project and she was just perfect. If anyone reading needs someone confident, reliable and fucking cool looking then check out Charlotte’s portfolio here.
We are working together again soon on a feature in the next Girls To The Front zine as well as a shoot for Wrangler which I am so excited about!
The best way to support me and this weekly newsletter “Love Lucy” is by purchasing a print from my shop. This means you get something in return and are helping to keep this newsletter accessible to the photography community. Thank you!
so fun!
So goood! 😍 I love the story the images provoke - both a result of the film and the compositions.
