Since the Substack community is growing so quickly I decided to move my weekly podcast here too!
Don’t worry it’s (hopefully) still available anywhere you listen like Apple and Spotify, but i’ll be releasing the episodes here first along with these little notifications to give you the heads up on what this weeks show is covering.
The thing about podcasts is - they are really hard to get in front of new people unless you are a notable person with fame and fortune already. It’s the only downside to podcasting and something I mentioned in a recent YouTube video breaking down the different platforms.
A great way around this is to also share your podcast on YouTube as the discoverability there is a lot better. It’s pretty brutal starting a YouTube channel from scratch though…
So I thought why not make myself presentable and turn my podcast into a video talk show that can also be put out on YouTube and edited into short form content for IG as well. Talk about synergy!!! So if you want to watch me in my new talk show on Youtube make sure you check it out and subscribe.
So that’s my update for you - You can also just enjoy it like you always did and listen in your car or on your daily errands. I’m here for your eyes and ears, or both.
This week’s episode is just a taster of a topic i’ve been marinating on for a while so I’m not really coming to a solid conclusion here, but more so raising the topic and sharing some recent resources that had me thinking more about this predicament we unfortunately find ourselves in when it comes to artists who have problematic pasts.
I’m not one to jump to cancelling people for mistakes or missteps and I don’t think everything should be politicised quite as much as it is right now. But then on the other hand it’s sometimes hard to look away or disregard certain actions or behaviour and simply go on enjoying an artists work. But then again what if it’s one of the greatest pieces of art ever created like Manhattan and Annie hall?
It’s complicated and I wanted to just say it aloud on YouTube and Spotify and Apple Podcasts and Instagram…you know, as you do.
So have a listen, or a watch, and let me know your initial thoughts or if you have something to add to the conversation that will be useful when I tackle this topic head on and in more depth, down the track.
