As a former jazz musician, I couldn't be quiet about your music comments. Believe it or not, perfection in music is expression. It's not about just playing the notes. The problem is than in a band, if everyone is playing their own way, it's not music, it's painful acoustical chaos. A talented band understands that their art is in reflecting the expression of the composer, arranger, and conductor. The talent is there, the expression is there, but all band members need to be on the same page. I loved playing jazz though, because I got to express my individual style during solos, especially improv.

Stepping off my soapbox now. Cheers!

Hey Bill, thanks for sharing this. You are obviously going to be a lot more knowledgeable here on what it takes to be a musician of the Whiplash kind so I fully get what you are saying. I am really into punk and a lot of music that came from people who did not have any idea what they were doing and I enjoy the chaos that comes from that haha! Like you say the solo parts are where you get to express yourself and that is what I was trying to encourage with these words.

Always enjoy having others perspectives on these things and I appreciate you reading. Thank you have a great easter!

If you play music you pursue the math, harmonics, creative sound effect, beauty in the instrument etc. And etc. Distortion comfort is a condition of distortion that you can choose to die with, but you will never know the peace and beauty of creation holism.
