Lucy: Do you ever use filters for your photography. I use a orange filter for black and White outdoor pictures. Also a cinebloom 10% to difuse light a wee bit

Thanks

I heard a radio story that French new wave* directors use to devour cinema. Everything from high art to low brow was consumed. Watching films that are less than great is more enriching than scrolling through Internet reels to find one that I don't hate.

*I'm fairly clueless about new wave.

I loved Kinds of Kindness, but it was super uncomfortable! That's kinda Yorgos Lanthimos' thing, but he really went way beyond how much he usually does.

And absolutely love your viewpoint on trends. I work in marketing and am always fighting for us to do less and focus on what we actually want to do and are good at.

Wonderful and thought provoking post, Lucy. Your comments on trends are so spot on! It made me realize that the photographers I follow on IG never show up in yoga pants. Thank God for that. Keep on being you. I enjoy your commentary and your work.

Great piece! I like your take on trends. I’ve read similar takes on fashion trends. These moments so quickly, and people rush to codify them they stifle the movements before they even get started. Or businesses like Meta are so desperate to stay relevant that they are manufacturing trends just to get a sweet taste of attention again.

Dying to hear your thoughts on kinds of kindness. Beautifully shot movie. Love the look. The rest…?

Maybe I should spend some time on social media ‘cause I had no idea what you were talking about… then again, maybe i’m doing ok with my “social ignorance”

Anyway, loved your rant and fully agree with it. Want to blend in? follow trends and be one more, but if you want to stand out BE YOURSELF AND SHARE YOUR OWN IDEAS, your audience is already out there
