Your CD or LP collection was/is a way in to the person you are or was. You can’t do that with a streaming service!! I used to have quite a large LP collection until the late 1990’s. I had it all catalogued on my Psion Organiser! I eventually replaced them with CD’s. All the CD’s in the 2000’s got ripped in to iTunes where they still live to this day!!
I buy downloads to add to my collection. I prefer to do that than to use a streaming service. My music is me, it reflects my last 50 or so years! I don’t buy many new albums or tracks each year, so a monthly cost for a streaming service would be a waste of money.
I use a smart play list that cycles my main music play list over a 3 month period, as I listen to tracks so the list updates with stuff I’ve not listened to for more than 3 months. I get to listen to a lot of stuff I might have otherwise forgotten about! Even if I listen to a track in the car, that updates the system when I get home. I love how technology has advanced to this level. e
