Hi Lucy! I have been slacking horribly on my film photography for a while now and I’m ready to get back to it. I have never actually shot classic cars before but there is going to be a music festival/classic hot rod show right in my town soon that we are planning a little family outing to and after reading this now I’m thinking maybe I’ll shoot some of the cars there! Your posts here have been inspiring me to get myself out and start shooting ASAP! 😊
Hey Colleen! It can be really hard to stay motivated, especially with a family too! I'm so excited for you to shoot this hot rod show it sounds epic! Hope you have fun and feel inspired while you are there too. Feel free to share your photos with me on IG if you like too. Thanks for reading xx
Hey Lucy, nice stuff. This is the first time I have commented but I follow your site and I believe I have to say thank you for many of the recommendations to my site. I think that’s very nice.
Hi Lucy! I haven’t been following anything about film for the last year. I had this artistic crisis that I hated everything about the film prices going up, lack of inspiration, not enough support and few opportunities for me to share my work. However, I got an email about your new post. And I started looking at your store. I am reminded that you are a very talented photographer, you have your own style. It is nice to know that you are still continuing your passion for photography.
Hello! I remember your name from the comments section on YouTube actually. It’s been really hard with the film price increases along with cost of general living but I think there are so many ways to enjoy photography with or without film. I’m glad to hear that my newsletter and site could inspire you and remind you of the good side of the hobby. I have written a few newsletters recently that you might enjoy. Thanks for your lovely words. X
I am happy you remembered me. I know I got really bitter at some point and lashed out on the film community. I will check on your other newsletter! Your work is truly unique.
There’s definitely something special about the pairing -maybe it’s just my own personal nostalgia. And, now I have a Duran Duran song stuck in my head.
I’ve been inspired by your work of classic cars on film for a while now, and I went to a show for the first time in a really long time earlier this month! I had so much fun shooting it. I used your advice of utilizing the tight crop, and I was so happy with my results. I shot it on Ektar 100 and just 🔥🔥🔥. It’s a lot of fun capturing the quirky, uniqueness of classic cars, that’s totally missing for cars today. It’s almost like a sort of treasure hunt! For sure, double nostalgia!
This transcends cool! And pics really shine here vs. IG! Thanks Lucy for all the inspiration! Truly love getting your new Substack post emails 😊 Thinking of creating my own Substack while I’m on a little hiatus from Instagram!
